The Continental typewriter was made by Wanderer Werke of Siegmar-Schönau, Germany, from 1904 onward. Among the models were a noiseless typewriter called the Silenta, and a special typewriter for musical notation. The machine illustrated most probably dates from the late 1930s or early 1940s. It's a beautiful piece of workmanship, showing off "German quality" at its best!
The Wanderer company also built the Wanderer automobile, and later was to merge with DKW, Horch and Audi to form the Auto Union.
Sedan 1904 byggde Wanderer Werke i tyska Siegmar-Schönau skrivmaskiner under namnet Continental, och bland modellerna märktes den ljuddämpade skrivmaskinen Silenta, och en särskild modell för notskrift. Maskinen på bilden torde vara byggd omkring 1940. En ovanligt solid konstruktion som representerar "tysk kvalitet" när den är som bäst!
Wanderer tillverkade även bilar, och så småningom kom fabriken att ingå i Auto Union-koncernen tillsammans med DKW, Horch och Audi.
