OLIVETTI CALCULATORS
"The Olivetti Divisumma 24 is a superautomatic printing calculator with one register and a dynamic memory. Made in 1956, conceived by Adriano Olivetti and designed by engineer Nizzoli. It is designed to add, subtract, multiply, and divide at high speed, in any sequence. In this way a wide variety of chain calculations can be quickly and simply carried out. For example: multiplications involving a constant factor; fully automatic division. Each stage and result of a calculation is printed on a tally roll. This, besides providing a permanent record of the calculation, allows accuracy to be checked, on the spot or at a later date and in a different place."
Centrufficio S.R.L., Casamassima, Italy, actually sold brand new Divisummas in their original packing, including manual, dust cover and cable as late as year 2000 (maybe even one or two years later).
Still more complicated was the Olivetti Tetractys (similar in appearance to the Divisumma) with two registers and the possibility of chain multiplication (a * b * c) and combined addition and multiplication ( [a + b] * [c + d] ) .
A much simpler model - not featuring automatic division - was the Multisumma, which arrived in the 1960s. During the 1960s, Olivetti also would be famous for having constructed one of the first desk-top computers, which was called the Olivetti Programma, and introduced in the United States in the fall season of 1965. It was constructed by Pier Giorgio Perotto and designed by Mario Bellini.

Ovanstående är ett sammandrag ur en annons från det italienska kontorsvaruhuset Centrufficio, som sålde fabriksnya Divisumma med tillhörande instruktionsbok, nätsladd och dammskydd så sent som år 2000 (och kanske något eller några år till).
Än mer komplicerad var modell Tetractys (samma utseende som Divisumma) med två separata register och möjlighet till bland annat fortsatt multiplikation (a * b * c) och kombinerad multiplikation och addition ( [a + b] * [c + d] ) .
En betydligt enklare modell - utan automatisk division - var 1960-talets Olivetti Multisumma. På 1960-talet skulle Olivetti också låta tala om sig för att ha utvecklat en av de första persondatorerna - eller mikrodator som vi sade då - Olivetti Programma, lanserad i USA hösten 1965. Männen bakom Programma var konstruktören Pier Giorgio Perotto och formgivaren Mario Bellini.
